I never order from any other bakery! They are awesome and customer focused. Try any cake with chiffon lemon mousse filling and buttercream and you will never order anything else! I look for things to celebrate just to order from them. You will not ever be disappointed!

Right now I'm still dwelling on their maple bacon paczki. God help me. I may have a stroke but it may be worth it. SO SCRUMPTIOUS. They have a nice variety of pastries including French macaroons (I have to buy each flavor), cupcakes (banana/nutella, hazelnut/bananabread, etc), and cakes of course. More than anything, they are known for their cake designs. They have true cake pastry chefs on board that come up with amazing cake sculptures. An edible cigar box with cigars? Yep. The leg lamp from Christmas Story? Yep. Currently they are expanding and extending their cafe to include cheese and wine. Girls night out? This is it. Kudos to Pastry Chef Fran Leon, for some amazing designs!

Bakeries are not just for weekends anymore: at least not now that Creative Cakes has opened its Cafe adjacent to its award winning bakery. In addition to their decadent cupcakes, pazcky, and cookies, they are now serving breakfast crepes, sammys, salads , and dinners, with the added pleasure of a great wine selection and locally crafted beer. Daily specials are offered too; on this frigid day they had chicken stew and tomato basil soups and a three cheese panini. They serve Intellngensia coffees, and bottled waters, as well as fresh brewed ice teas. The decor is a nice blend of modern French fixtures and tradional marble surfaces and granite topped tables. After ordering a cake for an upcoming birthday, I picked up a box of goodies for myself, and some dog treats for my pup! I have recommended this place to my friends and family.

SOOO GOOD! I've purchased cakes that look amazing, and taste awful. This cake was truly a piece of art, visually and taste wise. Great service, we had a last minute change on the date we needed the cake and they were able to accomodate us. Also, we bought some kolacky's and they were awesome.

Skip the grilled veggie sandwich, what a disappointment, very stale grain roll, hardly any veggies, over kill on the pesto and greens. Total waste of calories and money! Doesn't deserve a star but have to post one.
(1)Rochelle K.
The food here is incredible! Butternut squash soup was outstanding very consistent, delicious, homemade !!! Can't decide if i live the food more or their incredible cakes!!! Go here for lunch often!!! This will be your new fav place!!!
(5)Karen M.
This was my first visit to Creative Cakes Café and I was really impressed. The decor is just beautiful, it reminded me of a french café. My husband and I ordered sandwiches for lunch,I ordered the grilled cheese and my husband had the tuna salad with a bowl of clam chowder. The sandwiches were delicious and the was served hot, a pet peeve of my husband is lukewarm soup. I definitely recommend Creative Cakes Café and I will be revisiting in the future.
(5)Marilyn L.
Can't say enough about Creative Cakes. The staff is so accommodating and talented. The cake is outstanding in taste, options and quality. It is so difficult nowadays to find really good bakeries I am delighted to give CC a 5 star rating. Their cake was the hit of our birthday party!
(5)Allie K.
My husband and I hired Creative Cakes to make our wedding cake and then I also hired them to make a surprise Groom's cake for my husband. Creative Cakes was a pleasure to work with and both cakes turned out even better than expected. They were beautiful and absolutely delicious. I would confidently recommend Creative Cakes to any other couples shopping around for their wedding cake.

Over the last several years my family has been exclusively using this establishment for our special occasion cakes, so naturally now that I am getting married I had my heart set on using them to make my wedding cake. I usually order online, and have never had to call in for an appointment, but I knew with this I'd need to schedule a consultation. I attempted to book a consultation for a date that worked for both me and my fiancé. My first attempt I was told the date I wanted to do wasn't available-no problem, I thanked them and said I'd call back after I consulted him. I called this afternoon and asked if next week Tuesday we would be able to schedule an appointment for 5 or later. The young lady I spoke to informed me they don't do consultations after 3pm. I was a little surprised, but tried to explain that I work every weekend as I am in retail management and my fiancé doesn't even get home until 4pm. The unsympathetic young lady on the other end of the phone told me they "might" be able to accommodate me but that they are "just so busy with weddings, and graduations, and confirmations, and blah, blah, blah."-LITERALLY an exact quote. She then proceeded to tell me they don't even recommend a consultation until 3-6 months prior to the selected wedding date, which I had already informed her was the first weekend of November. My patience was already wearing thin, but I gently reminded her we were at the six month mark. She suggested I wait and call them back. Pardon me? Wait what, three months? When you're still in wedding season? I'll likely only be brushed off again. Disappointment is an understatement. I thanked her kindly for her time and hung up. I now have less than 27 days to research a new bakery as I only have one day off a week. I can only HOPE that there will be someplace a little more understanding that won't be so flippant and minimize such an important occasion in my life.

I originally had ordered my wedding cake from Creative Cakes (years ago). It was very very good. The cookies and cupcakes we have had since are very good as well. I think the wedding cakes are better then the everyday cakes. Thin layers of icing/filling and lacking a bit of the same wow you get from the wedding cakes. My husband and I tried the cafe and were disappointed. The prices were a bit high, the sandwiches were al a cart. So you would have to buy everything separately. They might have something here if they work on it just a bit. Both my husband and my sandwiches were too dry. For the price they didn't put much of anything on it. Scant amount of spread (whatever was to come on it) 1 slice of meat - all we tasted was bread! They really need to add more to the sandwich so you can actually taste what's on it not just plain and dry. Staff is not overly friendly both of us agreed the staff is less than nice. I would go as far as to say "have an air about them". This is the suburbs we live here to be around nice friendly down to earth people not stuck up staff. So, tone down the attitudes and amp up those sandwiches and everyday b-day cakes and you will have a great thing here - that will keep us coming back. Is that not what you want - satisfied customers who "want" to come back so your cafe can stay in business?

Came here for a Valentines day surprise. When I walked in the ticket machine was right in front of me. I had 52 and they where on 38? I was one of 6 people in the place. As I looked around I heard. Who's next! WTF! Are you kidding me. At that point the place had another 5 people waiting. Then someone had the bright idea! (ME) To say. What about the numbers? When they got the oxygen flowing back in their heads, I went home with a confetti cake. I was told to let it sit out for a couple of hours. Oh! I came here instead of Webbers to get a frozen cake for 30 bucks. It was alright, but the buttercream frosting was hard! Yes, you ask! I will drive the extra 20 minutes to get a fresh cake at the best bakery in town! Even if it is 4 towns over.
(2)Carolina S.
The bakery itself and its specialties are great! But I have little to say about the service we received. Not sure what the issue was but I'd hate to think the worst. They have so much to choose from we didn't know what we wanted to try. Apparently we were not making a decision fast enough for them.
(4)Angie W.
We met with CC for our wedding display cake and we were THRILLED with the service they provided. Cake tasting was F U N, and delicious!! We were able to decide on a delicious combo for our wedding day cake, and then we explained what we were looking for in "looks," and she was able to draw exactly what was in my head on a piece of paper... and then re-create the cake in reality for our wedding day. It was BEAUTIFUL, elegant, romantic and classy. We were so thrilled with the service and quality of the cake and staff here. We will recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a baker. We will go back for years to come, whenever we are in the area. We had a LOT of compliments on the cake, and we couldn't have been happier. Can't wait for our one year anniversary when we get to eat our cake AGAIN!! Thank you, CC, for your beautiful cakes, and wonderful service. You made our wedding day spectacular!!
(5)Irene G.
Creative Cakes baked our cake for my wedding last month and it was delicous! Our guests had only good things to say about it, too. We ordered something pretty simple - chocolate cake with vanilla bean mousse filling, but sometimes the simple things can go a long way. Less is more! :) I can't wait for our anniversary cake! The good thing is we don't actually need wait for our one year to get it. Only been married less than a month, but I might be needing that cake now...
(5)Anthony F.
Their new cafe has a nice patio. The sandwiches are awesome. Went their with my family and everyone enjoyed it. I had the "It's Complicated" sandwich. Great stuff. My nephew had a grilled cheese, top notch. We will be back definitely.
(5)Sarah L.
Our wedding cake turned out beautifully and, more importantly, it was delicious! Definitely recommend these ladies!

I am basing my review on 3 event purchases. I bought my wedding cake from them and that was 5 stars. I was very pleased with the cake. I bought a baby shower cake from them and they did a great job copying the theme from our decorations. That was 5 stars. I purchased a few dozen cupcakes for a wedding shower. I had the couples' monograph made on chocolate and gold sprinkles were added. At the time, I lived in the city and was going to order from a cupcake bakery but opted for Creative Cakes, instead. I had a friend pick up the cupcakes and she brought them to the shower. I was extremely disappointed. They placed the cupcakes in a box (like a shirt box) with nothing to hold them in place. One box was only partially filled so those cupcakes received the most damage. So, when I opened the box, they were smashed on the sides and the chocolate monogrammed pieces fell off some cupcakes. Mind you, the person who picked them up drove carefully but also didn't realize how they were 'packaged' inside. Also, for the price I paid per cupcake, they were small and they just looked cheap. I should have went with my instinct and ordered from a cupcake bakery. I never did tell them how disappointed I was. So, I'm not sure of how they would have responded if I did notify them. I would have given this cupcake order 1-2 stars. Thus, I'd recommend them for cakes but never for cupcakes if you are buying more than a couple at a time unless they have different packaging. Also, I am not sure if they have different sized cupcakes but the ones I ordered were smaller than most specialty cupcakes are made.

THE most amazing wedding cake I've ever had.. OURS. With the World Class buttercream frosting - several tiers -- but the added " sugar crunch" was amazing. Designed just as we ordered resulting in RAVE reviews from our guests for months afterward. Quality and attention to detail is what makes this bakery. Thanks so miuch.
(5)Abdraham O.
It's a nice clean bakery and the staff is really nice. They sell the basic sweets you find in any bakery. There cakes are the best I have to say. The few cupcakes they have are delicious as well; I highly recommend the slated carmel. Their donuts on the other hand aren't the worst cupcakes cakes you could buy, in that they don't taste processed, however they aren't the best either. The donuts they have have a sort off cake consistency, which I don't like with donuts but that is just my opinion.
(4)Nikka U.
Not only are the cakes exquisite but the pastries are to die for. It's a good thing they expanded!
(5)Sandi M.
Creative cakes is a wonderful bakery. Their cakes are delicious, fresh, moist, and beautifully decorated. I order cakes from them for every occasion. From birthdays to anniversaries to special occasions and holidays. I live in Northwest Indiana and I don't mind the travel because they are worth it. They're different mousse flavors are amazing. There assortment of other bakery items are second to none. I am so excited that their cafe is now open. I cannot wait to try it and know I will not be disappointed. I would recommend this bakery to anyone and everyone. I know if you try it you will not be disappointed, if anything you will be VERY glad you did.
(5)Julie H.
My daughter and I visited the cafe today - the firs time we've been here since Creative Cakes expanded. Wow, it's wonderful! We ran into some friends when we sat down to lunch and we all remarked about how very "north side" this place feels. What great addition to Oak Park Avenue and Downtown Tinley. This is a counter service establishment, with friendly, helpful employees and a fun menu. Not your average fare. There were crepes! And macarons (sometimes spelled macaroons). Coffee was great. My sandwich had a name: "It's Complicated." It was also delicious. My daughter's vegetarian sandwich was fabulous as well. Gorgeous bakery assortment. Best of all - the cookies were good. As delectable as homemade, but a whole lot prettier. They serve beer and wine here, which means that my husband and I may add this cafe into our date-night rotation. I'm delighted to have such a fun new place in the neighborhood. Can't wait to go back.

Ordered a birthday cake was nicely decorated and very fresh even thought I didn't cut it until the next day.

I recently bought a cake for my daughter's first birthday here and I absolutely loved it! The decoration was cute and it was delicious. I came in a couple of days before I ordered the cake to taste their buttercream and cake by purchasing several different cupcakes. The young lady who attended me also gave me a taste of their icings. She was very helpful and nice. The same young lady attended me when I came in to order the birthday cake and she was just as nice and helpful. The kids at the party, however, did not like the buttercream icing because it wasn't "sugary" but that is what I liked about the icing. All the adults loved the buttercream icing. Cons:1) I wish their chocolate buttercream icing (from the cupcakes I tried) had a stronger taste of chocolate. 2) The cake was expensive....not necessarily the cake but the decoration. It was $30 more on top of the cake price for what I considered to be a simple decoration. I ended up getting a smaller cake. I would still come back because I did love their moist cake and yummy white buttercream icing.

I can't quite figure out what the big fuss is about this place when it comes to their cakes. I've been to one wedding, one baby shower, and two birthday's where the cake came from Creative Cakes and I thought it was completely bleh each and every time. Yeah, the cakes LOOK cool, but I'm going to come back for good tasting cake, not just a pretty looking cake. The frosting tasted kind of like Crisco (and yes it was buttercream each and every time, and not the dreaded whipped cream frosting!). The cake part was a bit dry, and then there was probably the thinnest layer of filling they could put in between the layers...:-/ I will *always* eat desert, and I actually walked away from my slice of cake after a few bites (I guess my waistline appreciated that). They redeem themselves here a bit because their kolackies are awesome!! The macaroons are also delicious little delicacies, but this is a cake place! Bakery items are great, but I want better tasting cakes.
(3)Eric L.
Just walked in there to get a quick cake for Father's Day. Something small and pre-made. Cake and icing that serves 5 people. Cheapest cake is $30....
(2)Mrs. F.
Came across creative cakes from Bridal Expo, there were other cake vendors but this was the best. Husband and I booked appointment for cake testing, service was great and easy. We received "exactly" what we asked for and the cake turned out beautiful and was delicious, yummy! Placing order for cake was the easiest and smoothest out of my whole wedding process. Even better is that we received top tier part of our wedding cake "remade" free on our 1 year anniversary. Loved it. I highly recommend this bakery!
(5)Irene R.
For my daughter & son in law's first anniversary, i ordered a replica of the top of their original cake. since the wedding had been in Vegas. They did a good job of matching the it from a picture i sent by email. Fran explained everything from the start, and sent me confirmation emails. My daugther raved about the cake, they said it was the best she ever ate. Since it was my anniversary gift to them,I'm happy and relieved that they loved it.
(5)Beth F.
Our wedding cake was delicious and beautiful! I can't wait to have Creative Cakes bake us our mini anniversary cake. The banana cake is a MUST!
(5)Nancy H.
So far have been there twice for lunch in the cafe. I liked what I had, my last visit I had chicken salad on pretzel croissant and it was good. Husband had tuna. You can see everything is freshly made - they cook the chicken right there. Although its good I think the portions are on the small side and coming from someone who is not a big eater I would suggest those with hearty appetites find another lunch spot. Bottom line is this place is great for atmosphere but doesn't deliver on the food. As I said food is very good but nothing unique or special. SandwIch comes with a few grapes on the side chips are extra. At $7.50 for a sandwich I would expect more. My husband and both left hungry. I think they are trying to copy the LaBriola Cafe in Oak Brook. To that I would say nothing beats LaBriola! I don't think I would go back to the cafe. I buy my cakes from Fleckenstein's in Mokena.
(2)Tricia D.
What better place to stop after picking up a duathlon race packet than a bakery? My thoughts exactly. The bakery space is bigger than you would guess just from seeing the outside. And to avoid any confusion, it's tucked in the corner of the strip mall next to AT&T. I like the prices here. Standard vanilla and choc cupcakes will run $1.35 and fancier, filled ones (like pina colada, raspberry lemonade, and white mousse filled red velvet) are only $1.65. With plenty of other sweet treats to choose from - brownies, bars, mini tarts, and cookies - I got a petit four with 2 cupcakes. The petit four was very marzipan heavy, overpowering the cake. Light and fluffy characterized the cake. Yum! I know buttercream is supposed to have butter in it, but it was too heavy in the frosting on the raspberry lemonade cupcake, and I actually didn't finish a glob of it. I'll come back when I'm in the area.
(3)Sandy C.
Have used them for 3 years for cakes Would recommend them for any event for cakes and cupcakes. This was first time to try cafe. Will be going back.
(5)S F.
Lovely place for quality cakes! I purchased my wedding cake here & it was delicious.. I decided on a triple-layer red velvet/white chocolate mouse/white cake/vanilla bean mouse/chocolate cake. It was in incredibly moist and with the perfect amount of sweetness. I got married 5 years ago & friends and family still mention how phenomenal my wedding cake was. Any time my family has a special occasion we order our cakes from here, we have never been disappointed.
(5)Jenn W.
Over the last few years I've had the opportunity (ok, let's be honest here, I've created the opportunity) to sample a number of different items from this bakery and I've been impressed with nearly everything. The kolackys are fresh and delicious. It's my go-to cupcake place (in the burbs) when I have a sweet craving or I need to bribe my almost 3 year old (which happened to be last weekend). When we decided we wanted a gender reveal cake for our second child, Creative Cakes was the first (and only) place that came to mind. But my absolute favorite item is seasonal - the paczki. Seriously, I'm sitting here drooling in anticipation - they're only a few weeks away! The paczki are huge and fresh and delicious. The flavors are so varied and unique that I can never order just one - my husband and I order at least four (yes, you read that right...but it's called Fat Tuesday for a reason) and split them. My favorites are the Atomic (strawberries, bananas) and the Maple May'ham (it has bacon...need I say more?), but really, you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. See you on Fat Tuesday, Creative Cakes (actually, I'll probably order on line and have my husband pick up, but still...)!
(5)Linh L.
A friend had brought cupcakes over and.... Meh. They're decent, but they're missing something. It doesn't hit the spot like a goooooood cupcake.
(2)Pug P.
The cupcakes are too sweet but the collies are good and the stuff is overpriced a bit
(2)Krystle S.
This cake is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! The vendor i went through for my wedding was contracted to use Creative Cakes, so i honestly had no say-so, but boy am i glad about that! I met with them in advance to go over the flavor profile but didn't imagine it would all come together so perfectly. My guest are still talking about this cake and i don't think i will be waiting a full year to enjoy the top portion of the cake with my husband. It has only been 3 weeks since we've gotten married so we may enjoy it on our 1 month anniversary. Sincerely, A gluttonous and happy bride
(5)Maggie G.
I really like the cakes here. The cupcakes are pretty creative and tasty, too. I wish they served lunch. It would make a perfect trifecta. I was in last week and picked up one of those Atomic cakes (I think that's the name) and it was incredible. Worth the drive from Naperville.
(5)Colleen B.
my coworker decided one Friday morning that our office needed a whole lotta cupcakes. She sent me with her debit card and a list of flavors that she wanted. They had a good variety of it and the place was almost empty so I didn't have to wait. Just tried the peanut butter cup cupcake and it was delicious. Everyone at the office is enjoying them and will definitely come back again for bakery items in the future!
(4)Joe K.
This bakery does outstanding work with a smile. The cakes and cupcakes are top notch. You almost hate to cut into some of the cakes as they look like works of art. But when you do, you won't be disappointed. We've used Creative Cakes for everything from a small wedding anniversary party of 125 people to a kids' birthday party. The service is top notch and you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Joe Kosteck
(5)Shawn H.
This is a wonderful bakery staffed & run by people who know what is delicious & how to make a sweet food experience happen for you!
(5)Gilbert B.
Very disappointed in this Bake Shop! We recently moved to the Southwest Burbs from Buffalo grove. And Through our past experiences we have continued our very satified business with "Dearfields Bakery"But since we've moved to this area we were recommended on this Creative bakery upon setting up an appointment with creative and doing a taste test. we thought everything was running smoothy until we called back to finalize our order they. We were unaware of our order that they totally blew us off and showed very little reliabilty towards new customer...Very disappointing of their costomer service inability and failure to run a business with customer courtoursey ...We were looking to invest 350.00 in a cake and continue with future business but they failed on all accounts .fortunetly we found a new place . we had a first cake made through Cathy's bake shop in Plainfiend in which they're service was inpeckable and we found a home with excellent service....Thanks Yelp for your help....Gil&Len Balboa

In terms of wedding cakes, its really hard to choose a good one, but these guys have it figured out. Loved: - They use real butter in their buttercream, and the ingredients are top notch (chocolate buttercream and cake is actually made with real cocoa) - The cakes are really moist and flavorful (unlike the other local bakeries) - They were very flexible to work with - we wanted to do a cupcake tower and they helped us pick all of the flavors of buttercream, cake and filling (plus, we got to sample EVERYTHING that we wanted to try and mix and match!). - Becky was so nice - she made a few cupcakes ahead of time and emailed me pictures so we could make a menu for our guests - Setup was included and turned out flawless. We were so happy with the final product. PS They also make the top tier of your cake for your anniversary for FREE. :)
(5)Natalie W.
great cakes, cupcakes and great service! Had our wedding cake from Creative Cakes and loved getting the top tier for our 1 year anniversary, no freezer burns here!
(4)Jennifer H.
Every time someone in my family is having an occasion, we don't even consider going anywhere else. Their buttercream frosting and the mousse fillings are so much of a draw, I think family clambers to take home extra slices! I stopped in today to order a Father's Day cake and left with a pound of their butter spray cookies, 2 pinwheel cookies for friends, petit fours for a lunch tomorrow and a raspberry lemondae cupcake to eat on my ride home! : ) Every person who works at the bakery has been knowledgeable. They are open to designing, customizing and creating the cake that you want. They are so patient and willing to create a great cake. I ordered my nephew's First Birthday cake from there, and in order to help me save money on the farmer themed cake, they let me bring in some toys that he loves to use in the decorations. What a wonderful idea! They also just started a frequent buyer program where you'll earn free stuff with every dollar you spend. Seriously...how can you go wrong?
(5)Donna M.
I would love to give this place better reviews, but until they offer a buttercream I am used to, I can't. I know what they do is 'real' buttercream, but it's not for me (or my family, or some friends). As much as I've tried to convert, I really miss the icing I am used to when I get things here. They should take a page from the famous Freed's bakery in Las Vegas and offer more options. Yes, I seek out bakeries when I travel. I love my sweets. I do have to say that the cakes/cupcakes I have tried here are more moist than most bakeries I've tried. The cake quality does have me coming back on occasion, but not my first choice because of the icing.
(2)Mike B.
I ordered a cake for my wife for her 30th. She wanted a beach themed cake and they showed me an example of what they could do. It looked pretty cool but I wanted them to change a few minor things because it was a birthday and not a beach themed wedding shower. I asked them to add a corona bottle and also a margarita glass to it. Each of the things I asked them to add were rediculously small and cost almost $20 to add them. The $9 margarita glass drawn on was the size of my thumb nail. Really? I was like whatever, she'll still like it and I took it to the place. When it was time to cut and eat, that's when we were really surprised. I had asked for half yellow cake with lime filling, and half chocolate cake with chocolate filling. They messed it up and put lime filling in the whole thing. Chocolate cake with lime filling is gross! They gave me a refund but my wifes favorite side of the cake was ruined. Won't be back!
(2)Faith M.
Hmm.... What can I say about Creative Cakes? I LOVE YOU AND IF YOU WERE A MAN I WOULD LEAVE MY BOYFRIEND FOR YOU! Usually, the cake looks great but tastes horrible or vice versa. Creative Cakes does exceptionally well in both areas. This places is totally the bees knees. I don't have a complaint. They do an awesome job and the customer service is superb! I'm not your average customer when it comes to cakes. I tend to like the show stopper type cakes and they step to the plate and deliver each time. Love em!!!
(5)Ming T.
Nice cupcakery with a variety of other pastries to help satisfy your sweet tooth. Primarily, they seem to bake to order, especially if you're wanting to celebrate a wedding.
(4)Dawn F.
Hands down the best cupcakes and pastries . Every time I walk in it is so hard to choose what to get everything looks amazing . And they truly make the most beautiful birthday cakes and they taste as good as they look
(5)Terri e.
This bakery did an awesome job on my son's graduation cake from a photo. It was 2 tiered with a cap on top and a diploma on the side.It was decorated in the college colors and school emblem. The carrot cake and vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filing was delicious. I highly recommend this bakery as the price was very reasonable too.

OMG..had some cake from this place ..can't remember everything that was in it..all i have to say is it melts in your mouth
(5)Amlynn M.
We used creative cakes for our May 24, 2013 wedding. After talking to several family members and friends, who had used them in the past, we knew they were the right bakery for us. We decided to go with a cupcake cake instead of a tradition wedding cake. They did such a beautiful job making our cupcake cake look as elegant as a regular wedding cake would. The detail on the cake was incredible and beautifully done. We had a mix of white and chocolate cake and used butter-cream icing on all of them. I still cannot get over how beautiful the cake looked. I have always been one to be critical of wedding cakes because to me they often look to be over done. Ours was exactly what I had envisioned. We also used Creative Cakes for my wedding shower. They did a beautiful job on that as well. Of course you can't talk about cakes without talking about the taste.... The cake tasted amazing. It was so moist and delicious. We received several compliments on the appearance and taste of the cake. We were also given take home boxes so our wedding guests could bring their cupcakes home with them. I will be using creative cakes for all future events and would definitely recommend them!
(5)Rob G.
Amazing cakes and cupcakes. Did our wedding cake here and we were not disappointed. That was five years ago and we continue to get every cake and cupcakes from them for birthdays and parties.
(5)Michelle H.
Great bakery. A little more expensive, but so worth it in the land of suburbia where people think Jewel is a bakery! My personal fave: chocolate cake with vanilla mousse filling and chocolate ganache icing. Gourmet Ding Dong.... They did a great job on my husband's 40th birthday cake.
(4)DW S.
Ordered a small cake and a cup cake tower for my daughter's wedding. They were great and they were the hit of the party. Had trouble keeping my brother away from them. One of the Groom's Men ate a baker's dozen! The butter cream really is the real thing.
(5)Joe T.
Ordered a few cakes from here for birthday parties and they have been excellent from the flavors to the design. My guests are impressed and have even ordered cakes from Creative Cakes based on my parties for their events. I highly recommend them and will be back for my next event. Good cakes, pies, cupcakes and cookies.
(5)Angela M.
Ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for my daughters 14th birthday and they were a HIT!! I read reviews here on Yelp, needed someplace close & last minute. I really liked the quick online order process complete with details & easy pay options. They were ready when promised, they were eye-appealing and DELICIOUS!

Creative Cakes was recommended by the Odyssey Country Club where our wedding was held. We understand why. Their cake is AMAZING. We had a 3 tiered white cake with all white butter cream frosting and a black icing design. Each tier was filled with either vanilla bean mousse, strawberry mousse or chocolate mousse. It was beautifully designed and reasonably priced as far as wedding cakes go. One of my friends said "it was not only the best wedding cake, it was the best cake she ever had in her life." Their staff was also friendly, professional and offered good ideas to build this cake. This really is an easy recommendation.

I've ordered or purchased from CC several times over the last 2-3 years and I'm just not that impressed with them. First time was as assortment of cupcakes for my husband's birthday. These were shared with friends and family and, while we didn't think they were bad, they were not all that good either--interesting varieties but lacking in true flavor. The second occasion was a birthday cake for my mother's 90th birthday party. I asked CC to put butterflies on the cake since she loves them so much. They charged me for them and, of course, they were not on the cake. Also, again, I thought the flavor of the cake was just so-so, as did many of the guests at the party. I know I won't be doing business with CC again.

First let me start out saying, how incredibly picky I am when it comes to sweets. I absolutely refuse to eat any cake or cupcake from Jewel, Dominicks, Costco, Walmart or any other supermarket bakery because they all taste overly sweet, and I find the texture of the cake is too dry and crumbly. Creative cakes gets it right, the cake is so soft and moist, it's sheer joy to your taste buds. I always opt for whipped cream frosting because I am not a fan of buttercream. This is my go-to bakery for any special occasion, but especially my birthday cakes. The atomic cake is out of this world good, and the cheesecake is awesome.

I'm giving this bakery 3 star and will update after my wedding on December 15. I went here for a cake tasting last weekend and was totally blown away. Prior to arriving at Creative Cakes we went to two other bakeries (I will not mention names) and they were just ok. Not that impressed but would choose them if I couldn't find anyone better. When I first stepped into this bakery, I knew immediately that they would get my business. I walked in and it looked like a very quaint coffee shop, the decor was beautiful, the cake displays were perfect, the staff was friendly, the constant flow of customers were unbelievable, and I could go on and on. We met with Fran and she started explaining with they could offer and then gave us ideas because I wanted cream cheese frosting because I'm doing a cupcake wedding cake. She explained to me the reason why she would be against cream cheese frosting and I really appreciated this because the other two bakeries never did this, they was just going to make it how I wanted it. Cream cheese is not something that you want sitting out for 4-5 hours (thanks Fran). I showed her a picture of what I wanted and asked if they could replicate and she said no problem. Next cake tasting. The other bakeries brought out huge slices of cake for us to taste which was quite intimidating because you sort of feel obligated to eat the entire slice, even though we didn't. Creative Cakes presentation of the cake tasting was phenomenal. A young lady from the back brought out real plates (other bakery had paper), real silverware (other bakery had plastic), and bite size pieces of cake (red velvet, banana, yellow, and carrot) with just a smidget of frosting on each, and dollops of fillings between each piece of cake so that you could determine which one you would like if any. This cake melted in my mouth, the yellow cake was something beyond this world. The red velvet was awesome, my son doesn't like red velvet cake but he loved this one. The banana actually tasted like banana unlike the other bakeries which we imitation banana probably and was extremely dry; this was so moist. The carrot cake was good as well as I had tasted this 9 years ago at my oldest sister's wedding. Ok, time for price. The price wasn't that bad for 9 dozen cupcakes but a 6 inch top layer. What grabbed my attention was the set up and delivery cost which totaled a little over $200. I was a little taken back but because of the customer service, the presentation, and the ambiance, I had no problem paying this amount and I want to ensure that it is set up correctly. This is my new bakery, even though it's quite far for me. I'm in the West Loop and this place is located in Tinley Park but it was well worth the travel and I can pay my balance off over the phone which I like because I would hate to drive out there just to make a payment. I see why this was voted 2012 Best in the Wedding Knot; it needs more than just this accolade. I will update after my wedding with pictures of the masterpiece that they will create. 04/12/13 Just realized I didn't update. As you can see I rated this 5 stars, my guest loved my cupcakes and so did I.

Creative Cakes did it again! Last year I posted about my daughter's 4th birthday princess cake. This year, she turned 5 and needed a pony cake for her pony party. I brought in pictures of what I wanted. It turned out exactly as the pictures and 10x better. The cake was excellent. Everyone raved about it. I will use you again, and again. I cannot say enough good things about this bakery. Thank you all for the outstanding job. My daughter loved it and it was perfect for her pony party!

We ordered a small wedding cake from here and it was one of the best cakes I've ever eaten! The staff was very helpful during the tasting, ordering and freak out that our cake was not big enough. From the research I had done on wedding cakes, the prices were very reasonable. At our reception, many people did not eat their cake and opted to bring it home. The next morning I received at least five phone calls telling me how delicious the cake was. Its been two weeks since the wedding and people are still telling me how great the cake was!!

Best trendy bakery on the south side! This place really does have creative cakes. When we first ordered a cake from this place, we found any execuse to buy a cake from here and indeed we did. In one year we had to order at least 6 cakes from here for family parties. My fave selection, white cake with chocolate mouse filling. So delish!! Their other treats, cupcakes, cookies, brownies. all delish as well. I can't wait for our next cake order!

As a planner it's always nice to come across vendors you can recommend. Creative Cakes was recommended to my our of state bride by DiNolfos in Homer Glen. From our first visit to the last bite of cake the experience was amazing!!!

I had a cake consult with them on July 2012. My mother and I were very pleased. When we arrived they were well prepared and they explained everything to us. I was the best service I've every received and my mother has decided to let them do her 50th anniversary wedding cake

Best cakes I ever had. I wish this place was around when I got married. Their chocolate ganache frosting is out of this world. I've gotten a few cakes from there before and didn't knew this existed till my neighbor had a graduation cake with this frosting. This frosting easily justifies the price of one outstanding cake. The staff is very helpful. This place was also in the news paper as they made Chicago's mayor Daley's birthday cake. What does that say about this place. The mayor's cake came from the suburbs instead of a bakery in city of Chicago.

I ordered a half sheet cannoli filled cake for a birthday party and it was the best I ever had. Everyone was asking where I got it. The staff was terrific at helping me order and choosing the decoration. I picked up a few cupcakes while I was there too and the fudgy monkey was to die for. Will be making all future cake puchases here. Highly recommend!!

Wonderful bakery! I ordered my daughter's birthday cake here and I couldn't be happier. We had a 10 inch round, red velvet cake with white moose filling and cream cheese frosting. it was soft and flavorful...pure heaven on a fork! It was decorated just beautifully -- the cake decorators take great pride in their work. I have been ordering from Creative Cakes for a few years -- and have always been extremely satisfied!

We ordered our wedding cake from them and it came out better than we could have expected. One of the easiest vendors we dealt with. The staff was very friendly. Since our wedding we have been back several times.

I am a procrastinator, hands down! I'm not afraid to admit it one bit. I got a brilliant idea on Tuesday morning for my dad's birthday. He loves Crown Royal so why not have a custom Crown Royal cake baked for him!? Genius idea, right??! Well It's Tuesday and most places require 2 week notice and his birthday is Friday....(eek!) I thought I'll just take a shot in the dark and ask if they could prepare it on such short notice. Good thing I called because boy oh boy I was not disappointed. Awesome cake, speedy service, fabulous price, and most important... a taste to die for!!! GET IT!

My daughter will only get her birthday cake from here and it has to be banana and chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and chocolate frosting. We have also had other cakes from here and everything is great.

The best wedding cake ever! Banana cake, hazelnut mousse, and chocolate ganache frosting. Moist, amazing, and...amazing! My wedding guests cannot stop talking about this cake. It was visually stunning and mouth watering. Plus, Becky, Beth and the CC staff were so welcoming, warm and enthusiastic. Incredible!

I ordered my wedding cake from here for my wedding on September 6, 2009. Creative Cakes was recommended to me by my reception hall, Silver Lake Country Club. Creative Cakes did an amazing job at helping us design our wedding cake. I went in with a picture of a cake I liked, but I didn't want an exact replica, I wanted to make it our own original design. I also brought in pictures of my flowers, dress, etc. anything that I thought would help with the design. They also had a ton of pictures of past cakes that we were able to look at. Creative Cakes did an excellent job of taking everything and designing a cake that was ours. It was everything I wanted. The topper on the cake was just beautiful. I received so many compliments on the cake before I was even able to see it on my wedding day! The cake was equally delicious. I picked a chocolate, with chocolate mouse filling, and raspberry. My husband picked the red velvet, which was hands down the favorite of the evening. I guess not everyone is a chocaholic like me! Creative Cakes made a lot of recommendations that were very honest. They didn't push the most expensive items, but instead made suggestions on what they thought we would like after getting to know us a little. They were also right on target with the amount of cake we needed for our event. In addition to our wedding cake, they are going to make us a smaller cake for our 1 year anniversary. It will be one tier and be similar to the cake we had on our wedding day. This is instead of bringing home the top tier and freezing it for your anniversary, which I wasn't too crazy about. So this is perfect if you want to have fresh cake for your 1 year anniversary!! I highly recommend Creative Cakes. The cake is delicious, they are easy to work with, and everything arrived on time!

Went out of their way to help me when I needed special cupcakes at the last minute. Cupcakes very yummy

We chose Creative Cakes to create the cake for our wedding at the Harry Caray's Ballroom at the Westin in Lombard on August 27. All of our guests have been RAVING about the cake!!! We decided not to upgrade the cake included in our package and were so THRILLED with the cake that Beth and Becky provided. We had the best experience from start to finish. Our tasting was so much fun and Beth the owner really took her time with us. We asked her which flavor combo she liked best and she recommended banana cake and chocolate cake layered with hazelnut filling. We weren't totally sold but when we tried it . . . there were no words, so delicious and moist!!! Our huge, six tiered cake was also half red velvet and of course the real butter cream frosting. The cake tasted SO good!!! All of our guests have been asking who did the cake and we can't recommend Creative Cakes enough. I will post pictures when I have them, but the cake was so beautiful too. The icing was absolutely breath taking! We can't wait to get our anniversary cake next year!

Its complicated panini is fantastic, Spinach & strawberry salad is wonderful, They offer a 4 cheese grilled cheese in the winter that is fantastic! Service is fantastic! The only disappointment I have is that they changed their hours, they used to be open until 8 during the week but now they close at 6.

Creative cakes made our wedding cake and it was DELICIOUS! The cake tasting was fun, efficient and well organized. They made us feel like we were the only people in the store and helped us workout exactly what we wanted in regards to flavored and designing. They have tablets set up on the tasting tables and you can browse through past creations while tasting their delicious cakes, and after you've selected your favorite designs, a cake designer comes and sketches everything out for you. We got a 3 tier, square cake, and chose chocolate with chocolate ganache and white cake with traditional buttercream frosting, alternating layers. We opted for buttercream over fondant, and custom piping throughout the cake with our monogram. They were prompt with delivery and everything looked PERFECT! Very pleased with everything and very excited for our first year anniversary, because they are going to remake the top tier of our cake for free so we didn't have to worry about saving ours! Thank you, Creative Cakes!!

This place is GREAT! A little more pricey on the breakfast sandwiches that I'm use to, but it's about quality. They also serve and sell Intellegentsia coffee, which is AH-MAZING! I've been looking for a local place that's not Starbucks, yet better than Dunkin' Donuts. And their donuts will make your eyes roll to the back of your head. The atmosphere is quiet. I was able to do a phone interview without any interruptions at all. I like this so much that I bumped my initial 4-star rating to a 5! LOVE IT!

Fabulous Birthday Cake! I am so surprised they made the best Birthday Cake for my daughter. We are huge Disney fans so this was right up our alley!

Disappointed. I asked for a whip cream tiny button cake for a birthday, even showed them the pale colors I wanted and types of small dot buttons (off a sample cake they had there). They added large dot buttons and small in deeper colors, instead of pastels. They also added framing around the edge of the cake after I showed them a cake which was smooth with no frame around it. They went ahead and did it anyway- which makes a cake look ordinary. They offered to put a fondant number on the cake for the birthday - and by the time we got it home (6-10 minutes, in air conditioning) it had fallen over and broken. They packed the box with plastic to keep it standing up, but it folded over within minutes. It was paper thin so maybe that is why it fell over, but still, it made the cake look horrible. We tried and tried to put the number together, but it just fell apart. We had to add candles to cover it up (so it would not have been as noticeable). We expected better. The cake tasted good and got no complaints there. But paying over $50 for a cake, one expects decor that one requests and that will hold up more that 10 minutes.

We have been CC groupies for the past several years for many reasons: 1. Their staff is great. They are very helpful and accommodating. I've gotten to the point that when I order a birthday cake, I just tell them theme and let them do their creative thing. My daughter had an outer space birthday party but wanted her cake to look "pretty" (i.e., girly) and they definitely delivered! 2. The cake and icing flavors are amazing. The cakes are soft and fresh -- I've never gotten excited about a simple yellow cake until I had CC's -- so yummy! The buttercream is delicious. It's definitely not as sugary as store bought cakes and I think that's one of the reasons it's so good. They also don't spread it on an inch thick like Jewel does. My guests always rave about it. 3. Their other assorted baked goods are delicious as well. From Thanksgiving cupcakes to maple bacon donuts, it's all so good! All in all, this bakery is wonderful. Yes, it's more expensive than Jewel or Target, but it's worth every penny!!!

Staff is friendly and accommodating...even with last minute requests. The decorations are always flawless and the cake is moist and flavorful. Every cake is a hit!!!!

It pains me to knock a star off my original review of Creative Cakes, but sadly, it must be done. Let me first say that we really, really love Creative. We used them for our wedding cake and have purchased MANY cakes since then. This year alone, I've purchased four cakes (we are a family of seven) and the taste has always been crazy amazing. No, really--if this review was on taste alone? Five hundred MILLION stars. And that's not an exaggeration. (People STILL tell us how much they loved our wedding cake, btw. It was unreal. But I digress...again...as usual... :) The one star deduction from my prior review? Honestly, out of the four cakes I've ordered so far in 2014, the first two looked incredible. The last two...well, not so much. The first cake in February was for our daughter's first birthday--sea themed--and it was SO cute. Her smasher cake was to die for. LOVE! The next cake I ordered was in March for my oldest daughter's seventh birthday. She is Rapunzel OBSESSED & her cake was beyond perfect. Two for two and I was the happiest ever. My son's birthday was in May and his Angry Birds cake was delicious but kind of...minimalist. That wasn't even really an issue, though; I selected the Angry Birds theme per his request and I get that they followed the design template. Perhaps it was just such a contrast to the perfection of Rapunzel six weeks prior? The writing was really "smooshed" together. I didn't even take any pictures of the cake although once I sliced it, no complaints to be found. :) The last cake was a Blackhawks cake for my husband's birthday earlier this month. It was delicious but again...not impressively designed. I ordered a Hawks cake last year for his birthday as well and that one looked fantastic. Not sure why this one didn't pan out as well, but again...the writing was a bit unclear and I'm sure that didn't help. :/ All in all, I still consider my family to be CC loyalists and we will absolutely use them again. The staff is always pleasant enough and I really can't say enough about how amazing their cakes truly taste. The cakes transport beautifully (usually my husband picks them up) and they stay fresh and delicious for as long as they last (which isn't very long in our house!), but I'm hoping the subpar writing/decorating was just a fluke (times two)...

Ordered a large half sheet red velvet cake with strawberry and banana filling for my daughters sweet 16 birthday on June 13 2015. And holy cow does not do it justice it was FANTASTIC!!!!! Best ever and money well spent. Staff was knowledgeable professional and friendly. Best cake ever and best service. You really knocked it out of the park. Thank You for helping make my daughters sweet 16 a big success.

Their items are decorated beautifully, but I wish their cakes/cupcakes tasted better. I'm not impressed.

We ordered a graduation cake. 10 inch round cake fed all 25 guests with a couple pieces extra! We chose a fresh strawberry glaze for the inside and a dark chocolate ganache instead of the icing. This is by far one of the cakes I've ever had. The cake feels gourmet and the icing detail on top of the cake was fabulous. I truly loved my experience with ordering and picking it up. I would 100% recommend creative cakes for anyone looking to order any cake.

We chose Creative Cakes for our wedding cake kind of arbitrarily, but it was such a good decision in retrospect! Wedding cakes are tough to do. Tons of cake, structural integrity is important, and fussy brides/grooms/people to please. I totally get it. And so did Creative Cakes! The actual cake was wonderfully moist and flavorful. The mousse filling was light and delicious. The frosting was a great complement to the other flavors, and not overwhelming at all. It was amazingly good several days later! Our guests loved the cake, and we did too! Try the chocolate cake with vanilla mousse and orange mousse --- like a chocolate Dreamsicle! :)
